The Goodness of God

Beginning in 1978 I have been writing in the blank pages of my Bibles revelations or insights I’ve received on various scriptures. These are placed under topic headings. Today is from Psalm 27:13 and falls under the “goodness of God”.

“I am still confident of this: I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.” It’s encouraging to me that God has promised to demonstrate His goodness to us while we live and move and have our being in this life. He is not waiting for our arrival in heaven to let us see this aspect of His nature. God is at work among us each day displaying His love, kindness and goodness to us in so many ways. It’s 5 pm, Wednesday, and as I write this and think about a way I have seen God’s goodness today, I look at lunchtime and the hour following. Cheryl and I “happened” to pick the exact restaurant in Hutto that our son-in-law, Nate, was at with his sheriff co-workers. Our son, Daniel, “happened” to pop into our house right before we left for the drive to the restaurant, so he joined us. We drove to our daughter Kristen’s home after lunch and then joined by our other daughter, Sarah, with her new baby girl. Kristen’s husband, Jeremy, was also home as we arrived. In an unplanned way, we were able to be with all three of our adult children, their spouses and two of our grandchildren for about two hours. Could God be involved in giving us the desire to go to that restaurant? I think so. Think about your day. In what way can you see God’s goodness has been displayed? “I am confident of this: I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.”
